This month, Ted shares his personal wisdom and thoughts about Wine and Cheese pairing.
I am not much into pairing wines with food. I am a bit free spirited when it comes to that… drink what you like with the foods you like is my motto.
I know, many sommeliers and chefs will think that I am an unsophisticated wine idiot That’s okay. I just think wine goes with anything. The most important aspect of drinking wine with food is enjoyment.
Although, I do like certain cheeses with certain wines! So, here are a few cheeses and a few wines I do like to drink with them. This is just a guide, so no set rules.
Again, the main goal with pairing wine is enjoyment!
- Gouda – Merlot
- Cheddar – Cabernet
- Parmesan – Chianti (Sangiovese)
- Gruyère- Sauvignon Blanc
- Manchego – Rioja (Tempranillo)
- Blue – Late Harvest Riesling
- Goat – Chenin Blanc
- Feta – Beaujolais (Gamay)
- Chocolate – Cabernet (no, it’s not a cheese, I just love chocolate and wine. What a pairing!!!)
Pour Vous has several Boar’s Head cheeses in stock!
Come visit and Let’s talk about wine pairing… or not!
Enjoy!
